I want to know how do I get to be one of those video game testers. I tried something and spent like $50 and well it was a waste of course cause I been had. I love to play video games and I want to know how can I do that so I could play never released games and also do something I love for once in my life. That is the career of my dreams. If someone could help me that would be wonderful thanks.

Sorry dude, but like other careers, this one is hard work.

Companies need game testers and many levels. They test everything from bugs to story line quality, to subjective opinion of how fun the game is.

To break into this market to make real money (not a crummy beta tester making nothing getting picked by random) you'll need to break into the industry either through programming or through journalism/english/story design aspect&.this means college and lots of crappy jobs before you can get to this holy grail.

No good jobs are easy to get, unless you enjoy min. wage and flipping burgers.

And even if you reach your goal, the job isn't what it seems. There's a lot of repetition, you might be assigned a small portion of a game to test over and over and over again. Imagine running 1 level 300 times and keeping track of everything you do, what items you keep, what techniques you use, what occurs& it's not what it seems man.

Im looking for a job for a game tester that i play games at home for my xbox and make money doing it. no fee no scams

yea, i used to do video game testing for Aklaim (sp?) entertainment back in the day. Got payed to test the new sega games! haha

Good luck, Most of the people if not all have some sort of degree. Its not just about playing video games. You have to have some type of graphic design background to get one of those jobs.

I've searched countless sites and seen billions of scams and lies. i just need to know a real site..where i can really apply..and really start working as a video game tester without having years of training under my belt since im still in high school. plz help!!!

Ah, the perfect job. Sit around, play video games, get paid.
Unfortunately, such a position isn't widely available. i believe most game designers test their own games these days.

I love to play video games and feel I'm pretty good at reviewing them. It would be my dream job to play games as a tester and review them for development companies. I can't think of any college classes/degrees that could prepare you for a career like this. Does anyone know how a person gets a job like this?

Most game testing jobs are related to the QA industry or software testing industry.

You need very little experience to get an entry level job as a game tester. I would read up on some software testing methodologies to help you stand out of the applicants.

Most companies do not have a major in house testing section. If they do, it small but filled with QA or SDET (software developer engineer in test) engineers which have lots of experience. Many companies use a contracting company to handle much of testing.

For example, MS uses two companies I know of, Volt and Excel which hire people and refer them to MS as contractors.

I am very interested in getting a job testing video games. I just need some help. All Im looking for is some information, not a handout. I just need to know who to contact or what company. Thanks!!
its not like your just going to be sittin around playin video games. i mean yeah thats what you do but its different, its actual work. most employers want someone who is educated but also you need to be exceptionally good at video games. not just playing them but finding glitches and bugs and etc. and since you ask most beta testers arent paid.

Ive recently done a lot of research online . I want be a game tester but live no where near any developer. and the only thing i get when i google at home game testing jobs are these like three or four websites selling wat look to be scam who ever heard of paying for a job. but any way if anyone tell me if they are or know a video game tester that test from home.
Im almost 100% sure there are genuine game tester jobs, but they are incredibly dull. Im an avid game fan, but I wouldnt be a tester if I could help it. You tend to just get a small section to play over and over and over and over so that if you do it in a slightly different way that causes a bug/crash etc, they can pick up on it. From what Ive heard the most successful testers are ones that play games at high end skill levels and enter tournaments etc, so that the company that developed the game notices them. For example, blizzard recruit a lot of the top gamers from starcraft and warcraft and stuff to just play games against each other (on their new starcraft 2 alpha/beta, for example) to test balance, strategies, get their opinions, etc. Balance testing is a big thing.

Im 19 and looking to become a video game tester. However most of the sites i visit want you to pay and i do not want to do that. Does anyone know of any sites that will offer you a job testing video games that is NOT a scam? Or any other information as to how i can get a job doing this?
Hi, The best way to get started looking for a proper video game tester job is to make sure that you contact game development companies online and let them know that you are interested. Your first few jobs will pay peanuts but after that you can earn quite a bit game testing. Hope this helps!
