The Biggest Loser Couples begins the New Year bigger than ever as we see a slew of firsts for the show. The sad part of this season is the amount of weight the couples are carrying; a whopping 7000 pounds spread among the 22 people who comprise the 11 couples. Not only that, there are a bunch of records falling immediately for The Biggest Loser from the heaviest woman at 379 pounds, the heaviest contestant ever at 454 pounds, the oldest couple and the youngest man at 18 years. Season 7 looks to have all the ear-marks of a great season full of dramatic results and with the excitement of the last season fresh in our minds, and the season for diet and exercise among us, it looks to be quite a season of first for The Biggest Loser and Bob and Jillian look to be at the top of their games.

Bob and Jillian started off the show by telling us how big America has gotten and how you are not helping yourself if you are sitting there eating Ice Cream while you watch. Great, already with the guilt.

The contestants were first informed of their being selected for the show by Ali and everyone screamed in joy. That’s how it always starts; All laughing and cheering until Bob and Jillian get a hold of them and then the crying begins. The Losers arrived on the Biggest Loser Bus to an awaiting Ali in the Biggest Loser gym for what would be their first challenge; their first workout alone without Bob and Jillian. Most of the contestants were shocked as many said they didn’t work out at home alone, why would they do it here?
Bob and Jillian watched in another room and shook their heads in disbelief as they watched the Losers struggle with their training and knew they were in for a challenge. Finally they could stand no more and went out to great the Losers and as they did, the oldest contestant, Jerry, was already passing out after briefly working out. The realization then sunk in as most of the other contestants watched in horror as to what excessive weight could do to a body.

Ali the announced that the teams would be picked in typical playground-style and Jillian started by picking the older couple, Estella and Jerry, first.
The final team breakdown:
Jillian’s Team: White, Estella and Jerry, Black, Dane and Blaine, Green, Tara and Laura, Orange, David and Daniel and Yellow, Mandi and Aubrey
Bob’s Team: Silver, Carla and Joelle, Blue, Filipe and Sione, Red, Nicole and Damien, Pink, Helen and Shanon, Brown, Ron and Mike and Purple, Cathy and Kristin
Ali then led the Losers to their first combined starting weigh-in:
White Team, Estella alone, as Jerry was at the hospital after fainting: 242 pounds
Pink Team combined weight 540 pounds
Purple Team combined weight 653 pounds
Yellow Team combined weight 512 pounds
Red Team combined weight 650 pounds
Green Team combined weight 579 pounds
Blue Team combined weight 736 pounds
Black Team combined weight 777 pounds
Brown Team combined weight 818 pounds
Silver Team combined weight 688 pounds with Carla at 379 pounds being the heaviest woman
Orange Team combined weight 847 pounds, with Daniel as the heaviest loser ever at 454 pounds
Bob and Jillian were shocked as to the girth of the Losers which had Bob saying that he didn’t think he was going to get any sleep this season. It was painful to watch the contestants working out, but Jillian said she wasn’t going to scream at them, which lasted for about 2 minutes as Jillian’s patience was tested fairly quickly.

Jerry wandered back to the ranch after a brief scare knowing that he needed to be at the ranch and was in worse shape than he had imagined.
The first challenge had the contestants racing across a bridge that contained 250000 pounds of sand in their way and race back again. The team that would eventually win would be safe from elimination at the first week weigh-in, what would turn out to be a huge reward. The teams had a time of it but the top five teams in the second heat were the Yellow, Black, Blue, Green and Red teams. In the final heat, Yellow and Black squared off and, in a photo finish, the Black team squeaked out a victory winning immunity at the weigh-in.

The Losers then all went to see Dr. Robert Huizenga and some of the contestants were shocked to see how their health had been compromised due to the excessive weight. The good doctor then went about showing the Losers their biological age due to their weight, leaving many of the them in tears. After the Dr visit, the Losers were back into the gym for the last chance workout and Bob was doing a lot of the yelling at this workout, seeming to switch roles with Jillian.
At the first weigh-in, Ali shocked the Losers with the first twist of the season by telling them that there would be no eliminations tonight but that nine of the players would be leaving the ranch, or would they? Ali said that the Black Team was the only team safe because of immunity and that the only other safe couple would be the team that won the weigh-in. The remaining couples would then be split up and nine would be sent home.
The Weigh-In:
Black lost 34 pounds, but had immunity
Silver lost 24 pounds 3.49%
Orange 46 pounds 5.43%
Red lost 35 pounds 5.38%
White lost 34 pounds 5.56%
Blue lost 40 pounds 5.43%
Yellow lost 25 pounds 4.88%
Purple lost 31 pounds 4.75%
Pink lost 25 pounds 4.63%
Green lost 34 pounds 5.87%
Brown lost 54 pounds 6.60% and were safe for another week as a pair.

After the bittersweet weight loss for some, the teams went about deciding who was leaving from the couples, which means the show should be renamed Biggest Loser: Only Two Couples Actually Left. Ali then announced that the players would go home for 30 days. If their teammate’s partner was still at the ranch after the 30 days, they would have a chance to come back to compete for the top prize.
After a lot of deliberation, the nine leaving were,(Pink) Shannon, (Blue) Sione, (Green) Laura, (Yellow) Aubrey, (Red), Nicole, (Orange) David, (Silver) Carla, (Purple) Cathy and (White) Estella. All hoped their team mate would still be at the ranch after 30 days and have a chance to come back to become The Biggest Loser as they individually said their goodbyes.
Next week, the individuals compete for team glory and Bob is the first to lose his cool, even leaving Jillian shocked.

Well, American Idol winner and country singing sensation, Carrie Underwood may have found love afterall. In a recent article on our site, Carrie Underwood said that she still believed that the man of her dreams was out there somewhere and it appears that she may have found him. She had recently been romantically linked with Travis Stork, the hunk from the hit show, The Bachelor, but now it seems that he is history and she has found love on the ice with NHL hockey player Mike Fisher.

The rumours began to fly when Carrie Underwood was seen with her hair tied back at a recent Ottawa Senators game. Apparently she was shown on the big Jumbotron screen’s Hug Cam throughout the game as she hugged the two people sitting next to her.

The romance apparently began after Mike Fisher went backstage following Carrie Underwood’s March 21 concert at Scotiabank Place. The couple hit it off, and  began dating some time after their initial meeting.

Mike Fisher has refused to comment on the romance and said, “I can’t comment on anything in my personal life, so that’s about all I can say. I don’t really want to say anything.”

Utah Governor, Jon Huntsman Jr. had some major competition at his inauguration on Monday when last season’s American Idol runner-up, David Archuleta arrived to sing for the governor’s swearing in ceremony. The singer performed the National Anthem, again, at the request of the governor, four years after the then-14-year-old sang at Huntsman’s first inaugural ceremony. (Keep reading to see a video of the event!)

This time however, David Archuleta drew a big crowd of screaming teen and pre-teen girls and the young lad’s appearance had changed drastically from his school boy look four years ago. As with all young boys who turn to men, his voice had also mellowed. The experience of being on American Idol  and performing on tour had bolstered his confidence and David Burger from The Salt Lake Tribune wrote, “The highlight came when his voice soared at the end of the song, on the lyrics ‘Oh, say does that star spangled banner yet wave’, hitting the high notes that have doomed many an anthem singer at baseball stadiums.

After singing, David Archuleta was rewarded with screams from his young fans and a pat on the back from Thomas Monson, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

David Archuleta left the ceremony by cutting through the Capital, followed by a mob of school skipping girls. David Archuleta met his fans in the State Reception Room and gladly responded to fan requests, placing cell phone calls to friends, or hugging daughters and mothers while signing autographs of his self-titled CD.

Governor, Jon Huntsman entered the same reception area a half-hour later to greet well-wishers and the media, but his fan fare was none like that of the young singing sensation, David Archuleta. There is nothing like having your thunder taken away by an 18 year old boy!

Check out the changes in David Archuleta in this second You Tube video!

bad-girls-club-the-naked-truth

After a holiday hiatus, Bad Girls Club is back on Oxygen with brand new episodes. On tonight’s episode, a shocking cliffhanger reaches its conclusion. Previously on Bad Girls Club, Kayla was being rushed to the emergency room, because she had become anxious and drank too much at an amateur strip night.

After Kayla gets back to the house, the other girls express their alarm over her behavior. When Kayla confesses her insecurities about being the “darker-skinned black girl” in the house, Tiffany takes offense and loses her patience with Kayla. As Tiffany and Kayla argue, Ailea nearly gets in a fight with Amber M.

Amber B has a blossoming romance starting with Greg, but it is being hampered by the lack of privacy in the house. Amber B and Greg wind up making out in the closet. However, Amber B is not pleased when she learns that Greg is still living with his ex-girlfriend. The other girls tell Amber B that she should break up with Greg, but instead Amber B decides to have a sleep over. Later, Amber B tells the other girls that she doesn’t trust Greg and that she didn’t “give it up.”

At a dance club, Kayla splits her dress, which leads to an outburst. Kayla insists she doesn’t want to be the “center of attention” and the star of “the Kayla show.” However, Kayla and Tiffany get into another argument, and Tiffany really lets her rage fly.

Bad Girls Club airs on Tuesday, January 6 starting at 10 PM ET/PT on Oxygen.

The Biggest Loser is back for a seventh season on NBC. Once again the contestants will consist of teams of two. The couples will include mother/daughter, father/son, sisters, best friends, grandparents, cousins, an engaged couple and former models.

In the season premiere, The Biggest Loser 7 contestants will learn about some shocking new twists in store for them. Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels return as trainers to work with the eleven new couples, who have a combined weight of more than 3.5 tons.

There are several firsts for The Biggest Loser on the seventh season. Sixty-three year old grandparents will be the oldest players ever on the show, and an eighteen year old will be the youngest male contestant to take part in the show. In addition to breaking age barriers, this season will also break weight barriers. A 379 pound woman will be the heaviest female ever on the show, and a 454 pound man will be the heaviest contestant in the history of the show.

There is also plenty of drama on the season premiere, as one of the contestants experiences a health scare. In the beginning of the episode, the contestants will go to the gym to start working out on their own.  However, Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels are secretly watching the contestants via hidden camera. The biggest shock of all comes though when Alison Sweeney announces the season’s biggest twist at the first weigh-in. The Biggest Loser 7 premieres on Tuesday, January 6 from 8 PM to 10 PM ET on NBC.
